Deadpool Review

Well this past weekend for my birthday, I was finally able to get to the movie theater to watch "Deadpool" up on the big screen.  I know it wasn't in IMAX or anything special, but one thing was for sure, it was deliciously gory and hilarious.  I was able to watch it with my wife since my in-laws were in town to visit and they took care of the kids while we were out.

The "Deadpool" movie, if you haven't been paying attention stars Ryan Reynolds as the foul-mouthed main character Deadpool/Wade Wilson.  The other main characters included:
Ed Skrein as Ajax
Michael Benyaer as Warlord
Stefan Kapicic as Colossus
Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead
Morena Baccarin as Vanessa
Gina Carano as Angel Dust

The basis of "Deadpool" is the telling the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson.  After being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, he adopts the alter ego Deadpool.  Armed with these new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life, Ajax.

I know I had seen parts of the movie on my computer, but it was great to watch the entire thing on the big screen in surround sound.  Throughout the entire movie there are a lot of easter eggs to previous Marvel movies, as well as many hilarious breakings of the "fourth wall".  During the movie, they pay homage, or make fun of, Ryan Reynolds as "Green Lantern", his costume as "Green Lantern", multiple versions of Professor Xavier, and the possibility of one of the Triskelions that crashed during the Captain America movie.

Overall, this movie was great, and you could almost classify it as a "love story" like Deadpool says it is.  Please, take some time to give this movie a chance, you will love it.

And please don't forget to stay for the after movie credit scene that happens after any Marvel movie.
